Celebration of Nexcellence: Robert Tunstall's Music!

I was neckstatic when I listened to Robert Tunstall's music .. what a presence in the blogosphere! Dear bloggy friends, in WellAdjustedRob's blog he tells us about his compositions and you can listen to them on last fm. I urge you to - they are brilliant!

My favourite is Suite Ajigasawa Part 2. As you know, I love Shostakovich, so when WellAdjustedRob referred in a recent post to his influence, I was intrigued. Once I heard one track I had to sit and listen to the lot.

(I'd intended to post one of my favourite Runrig tracks last night to coincide with Burns Night, as I know that many of you were celebrating. Apologies to Runrig, but I spent all the time I had available listening to Robert Tunstall!)

As well as the phenomenal instrumentals, Robert has many other tracks where he 'plays his cello like a guitar'!

I am a fan!

A MEME

Jeane at ARTIT recently invited us to participate in a meme, to which I joyfully responded because it will mean I get something made by her! A work of art by Jeane? Yes please!! I also couldn't resist responding to Derrick's (Melrose Musings) posting of the same meme - the thought of a Melrose memento is so appealing!

Here's the meme which I now offer to you, dear readers!

I have altered it a little, (as Jeane did), to accommodate my intergalactic situation. I am also limiting it to bloggers with whom I have fairly regular two way interaction ...

Here it is:

The first five of you to comment requesting this will get something made by me. My choice. For you!

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations;

- What I create will be just for you, (the copyright remains mine).

- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!

- You will receive your item by email, or if you prefer not to give your email address, it will just be posted up on my blog for you.

- You will receive the item before the end of the year, or sooner.

- You will have no clue what I am going to make.

If you wish, you can repost this meme and make and send out five surprises of your own. But no obligation here! Like many, I do not like any 'chain' implications of memes. However, it would be such fun to create special surprises for five of my dear bloggy friends!

Halloo out there...

(Raph, do telescopes ever 'echo' the words through visual imperfections in the lenses, for you?)

Though our acquaintaceship is new, Raph,

...

I think that this would be beyond nifty.

My human heart beats curiosity through its caverns...

Should I be one of the first five, I would be delighted.

Yours hopefully,
Chris

This sounds intriguing - count me in please. In reply to your comment on my blog Raph, I'm not usually so organised and think it is because I am slightly scared of this project and am not sure I can pull it off. I'm trying not to leave things to chance for once. As for gardening, so often I have come across something planted far too close to another plant. They all look so small when you put them in and I am quite old enough to be wise enough not to fall into the trap, but I still do! As for making new flowerbeds - well, just get the spade and get cracking I say!

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Sepiru Chris - you're Number One!

Yes they do - we call it the 'necho effect' here ...

(I must try and get my neck round a haiku in between my daily tasks!)

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Jan - the music's great, isn't it?

You're Number Two!

Raph G. Neckmann said...

You are Number Three, Heather!

(I plant too closely too, but it does give instant effect!)

Hi Raph,

Well, I must say, when I saw there were already 8 comments for your post, the tears were welling up at the thought that I had missed 'the boat'!! But maybe not?!

I can't think of anything nicer than a Raph G Neckmann creation (except for a Jeane creation!).

Also, couldn't agree more about Rob's music. I enjoyed it on first hearing!

I hope I'm in time to join the meme! What is this, Raph? I have no idea. What's my role in the meme? :) Thanks for the good luck wishes on the moto class. I am bruised all over and I think I'm only big enough for a scooter! Which would your giraffe family be more inclined to enjoy?

Raph G. Neckmann said...

You can dry your tears Derrick - you're in my five! (Did I sound like Simon Cowell there?)

Raph G. Neckmann said...

You're just in time, Marigirl!

Your role in this is to receive my creation when I've created it! If you wish you can continue the meme by posting the instructions on your blog and creating five surprises for the first five to ask in their comments on your blog!

If you go onto Jeane's blog via the link on my post and scroll down to the post where she did the meme, you will see her instructions, which I have adapted slightly, and the link to where she got the meme! (Goodness, these sentences are longer than my neck!!)

The only member of our family to ride is Girth. His choice is a massive motorbike. He uses it to travel up to the AFF Gas station - with the panniers full of sprouts.

Shall listen to the Tunstall now.

Hello Raph,

I am thrilled to be part of your meme. Thank you.

I wanted to thank you, also, for the introduction to Tunstall's music.

W.A.R.'s blog is also fun to read, especially for its musical notes.

(I too am a fan of Dmitri Dimitriyevich S.)

Tschüss,
Chris

Weaver - I'm going across for another listen too!

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Sepiru Chris - I now have almost a year to create something for you!

Tunstall's music is amazing.

Schostakovich: I love his preludes and fugues played on piano in an echoing room at twilight - so atmospheric.

The Weaver of Grass said...

Raph - if you get time today please pop to my blog and tell me which luxury you want to take to the Desert Island. All our books are listed and packed and we set sail today, so get packing.

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Thank you Weaver - I've managed to get there on time!

I am too late for the meme, but I love the idea of unexpected art. (and the music was nice too - thanks for sharing.)

Hi Raph -- oh yes, I agree! How marvellous is Rob's work!

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Well, Tom, as I've got nearly a year to do my creative surprises, maybe I'll extend just a little beyond my five for 'unexpected art'!

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Hi Olivia - yes, it certainly is!

Jeanne said...

Thanks for your kind visit and your words.
Blessings
You have a lovely journal

Thankyou for the advice on dragging photos on a blog post. I am rather nervous of trying it, but than a very short time ago I didn't think I'd be able to get the photos on there anyway. I am thrilled to be part of your meme.

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Thank you Jeanne, and thank you for visiting.

Raph G. Neckmann said...

Hi Heather - you could try dragging the photos on a new post so there's no risk of messing up the existing one.

I shall enjoy creating your surprise for the meme!

Barbara Martin said...

Raph G. Neckmann said...

It's wonderful, isn't it, Barbara - I'm looking forward to hearing his new pieces.
